Summer Snacking in a Healthy Way

While summer is beginning to come to a close, there's still plenty of time left to enjoy the sunshine with your friends and family! It's a great time to get out of the house, away from the television and enjoy some healthy foods while getting active!

Along with your favourite games and toys to get you and your family moving, what kinds of snacks should you bring to keep your body fueled? It's easy to stray back to the tasty treats like pop, chips and cookies that aren't that great for you, but consider substituting these foods with things that are more nutritious but still taste great! Here are our favourite suggestions:

  • Apple and orange slices
  • Celery sticks with almond butter
  • Carrots & hummus
  • Tuna jerky
  • Plain rice crackers
  • Unshelled edamame
  • Unseasoned pumpkin or sunflower seeds
  • Greek yogurt
  • Unsalted trail mix
